Zoo field trip

Ostin's class went to the zoo today. I forgot the camera, so don't ask for pictures. It was a nice day to be there. It wasn't too cold or too hot. A lot of the animals were out and about. Although, when were looking at the kangaroos all Ostin was interested in was the squirrel. I only had to keep up with three kids which was nice. It also makes me realize I could probably do more with my kids than I usually do. Of course there is never enough time to look at all of the animals. I have made a promise to Ostin that we will go back soon so we can go see the zebras. All in all, it wasn't a bad day. (And it ended much better than it started out.)

Latte anyone?

Today, I was sitting at the table helping Ostin with his homework. He had to look at a picture and put the letter for the beginning sound. We were doing pretty good until we got to the picture of the hotdog with ketchup on it. I asked what the picture was of and he said "latte". My first response was no quickly followed by latte? So, then I asked him what a latte was. He told me that a latte was chocolate in a bowl melted. Ah, I love that boy!

Happy Valentine's Day

With Valentine's Day falling on a Sunday this year, the day for parties and such at school was Friday. We had lots of fun addressing all of our own Valentines. Cailtin even made all of hers this year.

Cailtin and her Valentines.

I think Caitlin's Valentines turned out really good. She did almost all of them herself. I just did the last seven for her because we ran out of time. She did such a good job with them.

Caleb Says

My neighbor and I take turns dropping off and picking up the kids each week from school. This week was her week. As she is picking them up today, she overhears a conversation (argument) between her daughter and my oldest son.

Courtney: Caleb, stop running. She (meaning the adult volunteer at the car rider line)told you to stop running!
Caleb: No she didn't.
Caitlin: Yes, she did Caleb.
Caleb: No, she didn't; she commanded me to stop running!

Hair

Yesterday Caitlin went with some friends and got a strand of colored hair put into her hair. (It has started!) I feel that a little bit of color in the hair is fine. If she is going to experiment with anything, I would much rather it be with her hair. I think it looks really cute. I was tempted to get me one!

Entrepreneur

Ostin is an entrepreneur in the making. He has been coming home from school with acorns. He wants to plant them to grow a tree. Today, he came home with a pocket full of them. He sold "sand balls" (I don't know but can guess what these are) for an acorn each. I'm somewhat amused that he had the other kids looking for acorns to buy a "sand ball" from him, so he just collected the acorns from them.

Bumps in the night

Why is it that most of the time a bump on the head happens right before bed time? Caleb and Caitlin were both running in the house (which they know they're not supposed to do) and ran into each other. Caleb hit the corner of the wall. The pictures you see are the resulting injury. What you can't really see is the huge knot under the cut. It is over an inch long. Thankfully, he was fine except for resulting headache. I would love to say that they have learned their lesson, but I'm sure I will be getting on to them again in the future for running in the house. Maybe this will be enough of a reminder for them.

Forgot to mention, this happened last night. And I think I have finally fixed the comments issue I was having. I left two comments to a post myself and it actually worked.
