Contest

I am participating in a contest at Best Kids Apps for a chance to win an Apple iPad. This is a blog about iPhone apps for kids. While I don't have an iPhone or an iPad, some of these apps look so cool that it tempts me. I know my kids would love for a chance to play just one of these apps.

While I don't know if I will win, the ipad would be neat to have and would get a lot of play time in my house. All of my kids love to play games and if it is electronic, all the better. It would come in the handiest on dance nights. These are Thursday night dance classes that Caitlin takes. We are there for two hours on these nights. Do you know what kind of torture this is for my two boys? If we try to stay inside, they just can't sit still or keep their voices down to a low enough volume for other people to hear themselves think. We usually stay in the truck where playing space is very limited, even with the seats put down to create a somewhat flat space to lay down and play on.

This is a really neat contest and the website is nice, too. Go and take a look around. The reviews tell all about the app, how much it is, and provides a link to iTunes where you can buy it. They even tell you how to set up your iPad with one of the first tips being to set up when your kids aren't around!

True Friend

Courtney is Caitlin's best friend and she has Cystic Fibrosis. We are doing the Great Strides walk this coming weekend to help raise money for the CF Foundation. This is a video I put to together of the girls.

Courtney has also had several hospital stays since we have known her. These stays are called "tune ups" and she has to stay 2 weeks every time. Maybe one day, these hospital stays will be a thing of the past along with all those medicines.

Thank you for taking the time to watch and, if you can, scroll down and donate today.

Great Strides 2010

We are walking the Great Strides 2010 walk next weekend, May 1st. This walk is to benefit Cystic Fibrosis. We are a part of Team Courtney*. Courtney is Caitlin's best friend and has Cystic Fibrosis. We are hoping to raise money to help find a cure. There are drugs in the "pipeline" that could help a lot of people, but there is not enough money to get them out there. If you can, please click on the following link and make a donation. And if you are in the area, come out and join us on Saturday for the walk. It is always a lot of fun and the park is a pretty setting for a nice walk.

Jungle Quest

We went to Jungle Quest today and had a blast. I wanted to get some things posted. I'll try to get it more organized later, but I wanted to get something up until I had time to really sit down with it. So enjoy this for now.

Book Review

So, I've been meaning to update for a while now. I have some pretty funny and cute stories about the kids, but every time I try to write about them, they just don't come out right. So I gave up. If you want to hear them you'll have to call me!

Now, I could also spend this time complaining about all the money we are starting to spend on teeth, but I don't want to. Just for general purposes know that we are starting to get ready for braces. Yes, already. Apparently, there is a lot of work that needs to be done on my kids' teeth before we even get to the braces. Cross bites and overcrowding are the issues right now.

Anyway. I've decided to tell you about a book that I just got finished reading. I like to read books that I think Caitlin might enjoy so I know what's going on if she does decide to read it. I just got finished reading The Magic Thief by Sarah Prineas. I really enjoyed it. It kind of reminded me of the Harry Potter books. It took me a couple of chapters to get into it, but at one point I didn't want to put it down. Always a good sign when reading a book. It is about a boy who lives on the streets picking pockets and the like. He picks a wizard's pocket and gets the wizard's magic stone. Usually, anybody who touches a wizard's stone who is not the wizard dies. This boy lives. Eventually, the wizard takes the boy, Conn, on as his apprentice. All the while, the magic is leaving the city where they dwell and the wizards are trying to find out why. Conn comes up with some theories and ends up helping to get the magic back. I told Caitlin she would enjoy it and I know she will. She loves reading mysteries and this has a basic mystery at it's core, but it's not the whole of the story. Sarah Prineas weaves in all the plots very well and never overcrowds the story with too many plots so you can't keep track of everything that is going on. I enjoyed it so much that I bought the second book for myself to read. I'm sure I'll let Caitlin borrow it!
